The senior executive, administration and support staff, and a small number of classroom teachers and Head Teachers are located at our coordination office in Sydney.

The teaching staff comprises:

  • classroom teachers shared with other NSW Department of Education schools
  • casual classroom teachers working in the coordination office in Sydney.

How do I apply to teach at Aurora College?

Permanent positions at Aurora College are advertsied on the I work for NSW website. When available, these positions are offered through an open merit selection process. Permanent teachers are able to work from the coordination office (metropolitan Sydney based staff), or by negotiation, from a NSW Department of Education school or office (staff based outside of the Sydney metropolitan area).

Aurora’s shared teachers are selected through an Expression of Interest process advertised in the NSW Department of Education’s internal news bulletin, SchoolBiz (Department logon required)This process generally takes place early in Term 3 of the preceding year of employment. Shared teachers remain in their ‘home school’ and have a reduced teaching load which allows them to also teach an Aurora class (or classes).

Teachers from NSW government schools, Educational Services teams and state office directorates are eligible to apply for shared teaching positions. Applicants are selected on the basis of their subject expertise, as well as their capacity to deliver engaging and innovative lessons in a virtual environment. Targetted professional learning and ongoing support is provided to teachers to further equip them to work in this uniquie learning and teaching environment.
